how often is "ぺらぺら” used in Japanese to actually say fluent rather than another word for fluent?

Know someone who might be able to answer this question?

I'm guessing that a Japanese person would rather use 流暢(りゅうちょう)than ぺらぺら. Then again, I'm not Japanese, so what do I know, haha.

I heard ぺらぺら used often in Japan, actually. I would say for conversation, that's probably the norm, versus 流暢 (the latter being the more technical term).
