in the audio, it clearly said 「私スミスジョンです。」just letting you guys know :)

and isn't it better to say "You are a student."? or is "The student is you." correct?

Thanks a lot! We corrected the drill for 「私はスミスジョンです。」 and it should have the right answer now.


This match the meaning question was definitely a "gotcha" question. The subject of the English sentence "student" should match the topic of the Japanese sentence "がくせい," so in that sense it's correct. The emphasis can be different based on what the topic is and what the predicate is, but this question was not structured and introduced well. We'll be updating the drill. Thanks a lot for pointing this out!
