I was wondering how to tell when to use which of these when writing in Japanese.

Know someone who might be able to answer this question?

Normally hiragana is for Japan origin words and katakana is for foreign or borrowed words. However sometimes katakana is used for attention purposes like we have CAPITALS to shout. Hope this helps.
