おきる And おこる

So I'm pretty sure that じこがおきる and じこがおこる both mean an incident will occur?

Is there a difference in the meaning of the two?

Know someone who might be able to answer this question?

An interesting question!

I've never thought about the difference between the words.

Basically, there is not significant differences between the two verbs when you say "some incident happens."

You can use both じこがおきる and じこがおこる in the same way.

But when you want to say "to wake up," you can only use おきる.

Also, おきる is an ichidan verb, and おこる is a godan verb, so they conjugate differently.

Thank you for your great question!
