When you write タッチ (with a little "tsu" in the middle) then you don't pronounce the "tsu" but instead you have to pause before saying the letter after the "tsu", so you would say TA...CHI

If you write タツチ (with a normal sized "tsu") then you do pronounce the tsu and you would say TATSUCHI

In both cases Katakana is used to write the english word "touch" using japanese characters. Since matching the sound exactly is difficult because the languages are so different, there are usually more ways of spelling that come close to matching the english sound.

I am not sure but I think both ways are correct.

Another example would be two ways of writing the english word "violin" using Katakana: バイオリン and ヴァイオリン.   (biolin and violin).

Hiragana is used for words or part of words that are native to the japanese language, where katakana is used for words or names that are imported from another language or to imitate sounds (like the sound of a cat or a dog). Whenever I see a word written in Katakana, I know I have to use a bit of imagination when I read it. You don't mix hiragana and katakana in the same word, but you can have a compound of two words where one of them is spelled in hiragana and the other in katakana: for example: the japanese word for pork cutlet is a compound of "ton" and "katsu" where the first word is spelled in hiragana and the second in katakana: とんカツ .

ohh i see. so if we intend to use hiragana, just use all hiragana ? erm is there any limit for certain kind of word only for hiragana , for example is SUSHI is すし . can we spell sushi in katakana also ? スシ OR the sushi word is usually spell in hiragana only ? hope u understand my question though huhu

Sushi is a Japanese word (not imported from another country), therefore you use hiragana. Native Japanese words are written using hiragana.

Katakana spelled in hiragana doesn't work. I understand the introduction module for this site only goes up to hiragana and katakana, but even so it's crucial you learn when to use both writing systems, as when you're composing sentences it becomes increasingly confusing
