Hi AdamDPool-san,

Japanese particles are very important!

"ちちがかばんをわすれました" --> ちち (=Subject) +  + かばん(= Object) +  + わすれました (=Verb)。

Particle can set a subject, so please don't omit the particle in this case.

I was just wondering about the sentence “父がかばんをわすれました”. Could someone just refresh my meme key on why it is the particle が between father and bag?

Thanks

Hi アンドレさん!

I checked the questions and answers in the drill "You Are So Generous !!"

Both questions that you mentioned were just fine.  Your understanding is correct, too.  So, the problem might be some technical issue.  We'll try to fix this as soon as possible.

Thank you for letting us know this problem.

Hello, I could do with a bit of help on this one.

I'm having the hardest time trying to understand when to use あげる and when to use もらう, it's not clear to me at all.

In the lesson it's explained that you use あげる when you do a favour for someone else however... When I get to the exam I get the sentence 'I had someone else start the meeting (before I arrived)' to translate and I've gone with 先に会議を初めてもらいました, as I perceive this to be someone doing me a favour and not the other way around, but the 'correct' response is 。。。初めてあげました.

Is this a mistake in the exam?  Because later on I got marked off on another question for saying 妹をここにつれて来ましょか with the 'correct' answer given as 妹をここに持ってきましょか, when 持つ is only supposed to be used for objects, not people?  Or have I missed a trick with either of these?

Many thanks in advance for any further explanation you could give on either of these. -アンドレ
