Hi!
だって is used at the beginning of a sentence to answer when you're asked a reason for something. So, if you want to use it in this sentence, it should be a part of a conversation. For example.
Ａ：どうして、あのスーパーにいつも行くの？
Ｂ：だって、あのスーパーはちかいし、安いし、きれいだから (よく行きます。)
It's good to know that だって is very casual and depending on the situation it sounds a little childish or girly;

In this sentence would it be wrong to use だって instead of から. If so, when is the right time to use だって？

Good question! Yes, you can use the expression to talk about the past events. For example,
Person 1: どうしてパーティに来なかったの？
Person 2: だって(casual way of saying "because")、あたまもいたかったし、ねむかったし・・・。

I had one quick question tho: In this lesson the 〜し form is used to give reasons in the present time, can the 〜し form be used to give reasons for events in the past as well?
