MARAさん

Hospital is "Byou-in" and hair salon is "Biyou-in"

I know it is the slightest difference, but with practice you will get it!

Cheers

Hi,

As you know,  " に (Ni) + ゃ(ya) = にゃ(Nya)"  [ ≠  にや (Niya)]

@Rach It is not really shortened sounds it's purpose is to change the way you pronounce hiragana that end with the い sound but to answer your question yes it is literally a smaller やゆよ just like the smaller つ in the sokuon lesson.

@Aya ぴゃ vs ぴや as you would notice pya has a smaller や while piya has a bigger one (although I'm not sure piya is an actual word)

Sooo.... I need some clarification on this one. Are these LITERALLY a written/typed smaller version of Ya, Yu, and Yo? And it's only these smaller versions added to the consonants to create the shortened sounds? Thanks in advance!
